Is my HDD dead?

I have been noticing that my overall system speed has been slowing down recently, I have also been noticing that the disk has been getting much louder to seek and when booting it pauses and seeks for a few seconds before it resumes booting. So my first step was to run chkdsk which causes the system to blue screen, with no file listed as the cause, so I went to the western digital site and downloaded a copy of their lifeguard diagnostics and tried to run a full diagnostics test on the drive and it still blue screened. I am able to defrag both of my partitions without any problems. I have virus scanned so I know its not a virus and I have also reset my page file many times also.

Sounds like you need a new drive my friend, try RMA with WD.

Have you tried HDTune? Download it and run an error test

I never understood the error check with HDTune, I had a failing WD drive, and HDTunes error scan came up all clear, when in reality, 1/4 of the drive was bad sectors.

I am running HDTune now and let you know if it was successful or not. If this is clear are there any other tests worth running? Should I just contact the store as its under its 1 year return to store warranty.
