The local retailer also have the option to order the AP-29 for 23$ a fan.

For 16$ its not worth upgrading from the 1850 to 2150.
But for 8-9$ it is in the end.
Just selling the AP15s will bring back the money+extra.
Same thing for me only i bought 36 of em they were 14.50$ a fan.

The only thing with the AP-29 is the sound. They are much louder then the the 2150s.

The 2150s and even the AP-15s for that matter get their reputation for being excellent performers at an almost inaudible sound level.

I'm going from 2 to 3 bare-bones if u include the pins and conectors or the tails. I don't care if I have to solder.

Exactly why I joined to buy the 2150s to replace the 1850
Pretty much the same noise only better performance.
The AP-29 are about 36-37dBA, which is pretty loud to keep for 24/7 use over the 28dBA of the 1850/2150.

As I said, update me to bare bones and lets get this this discussion

Cheers.

1. Can the barebone have a 5v or 7v zalman resistor connected to it then to mobo?
Or a home made resistor?

2. I have read the thread and my understanding is that 2 pin fans can be controlled by fancontroller or mobo(?!)

3. Is there a deadline to make barebone order, will there be informed in good time before deadline for orders.

1. Yes, you can connect it to a 5/7 resistor.

2. Yes, but you won't see the RPM.

Are new orders still being taken? I piped in for 6 fans more than a day ago, but I still don't see that I've been updated on the spreadsheet. Would hate to miss out...

Thanks to those who are doing this; it seems like a lot of work!

do the barebones have any connectors at all? how does that work?
