Thanks Therionx.

So the fan does come with bare wires attached to the fan, right? Thanks.

I wouldn't mind buying crimping tools and crimping them myself seeing as I would be saving a lot of money. I'm not sure how that would go with everyone who wanted a ready made fan though. If we can't get the volume it is not going to necessarily be cheaper than the ready to go fans.

Maybe a separate order and then we can see what the cost per fan is.

The tach sensor is to monitor the rmp of the fan, thats all. You dont need special tools, just a pair of pliers to put the metal clips on the wire and thats all.

I was thinking separate orders but, everyone wants them cheap. Also pwm and tach holds no real relevant performance change in the fan to begin with, the fans not loud enough to even worry about PWM and you can still controll the speed of the fan via voltage/fan controller just no rpm will be listed, which regardless the only reason you would turn it down is to make is quieter to begin with which can be done just by turing it down to whatever sound level you want.

Where is this heading to ? I really wish we're not back to square one. frown.gif

If we were at square one, I'd have stabbed myself repeatedly. A decision needs to be made about whether we're gonna get the bare fans quickly, or wait a bit for the sensors and connectors to be put on. Considering it's prepayment now, I'd rather get them sooner than later.

This is why im leaning more towards bare-bones fans. everyone was under the assumption they wouldn't need to pre-pay. Having to pay and wait 15 weeks changes a lot, same reason why PWM is out of the question.

Right now even if 600 fans were to drop off the list due t going bare-bones we wold still be at 720 fans meaning they would stil be 8$ a piece.

From what I can tell, it's like this: the proposed fan per the original (and current) plan would be that it has 3 wires (power+tach) with a 3-pin connector already on it, done as a group buy with OCN as the middleman and TankGuys providing some distribution. At this point, we're just trying to gather up anyone who has not yet posted that wants one of these so we can have estimates posted and final prices up before these are sent out.

Hopefully that dispels the confusion, at least a little bit. If we were to do a split order, we'd have to start over, and that's only twice as aggravating as doing it this way.

Ok. My decision is I will get 40 bare-bone (3 bare wires) fans.

Thanks.

Understand the circumstances, but I think we as the buyer need a firm confirmation, personally, prepay is fine, but in return I think its fair a firm delivery date and the most important final pricing decision, yeah, its like chicken & egg thingy. sad-smiley-002.gif

Regarding barebone vs premade connector, personally its easy as long you have the pins and a cutter and finally a plier, thats it, no need any "special" crimping tool.

Currently I'm quite busy, but I willing to help by posting a "detail" step by step with lotsa pics in turning a bare bone wires into a standard 3 pins fan connector, and hope this will convince people that its not that hard to DIY this thing.
