I would be interested in the bare-bones model, as my fan controller does not read RPM, so the RPM sensor is mostly useless for me.
The lamptron controller he linked to is proportional to fan speed and or voltages thats why i said it didn't matter if it has rpm sensor or not.

I'm about to put in a order in a MDPC, I would be more than willing to put a black 3-pin connector onto the fan, add a tach wire and sleeve the wire in MDPC for about $10 per fan. That would bring the total cost of the fan to around $19, which is quite good considering it would come pre-sleeved in MDPC. You would of course get your choice in color for the sleeve and heatshrink (as long as you are buying more than 10 fans, if less I would get stuck with odd colors of MDPC. Less than 10 Fans will get black or white sleeve option only). If you don't want the MDPC sleeve it would cost $8 per fan.

No the connectors dont cost 1$ they are less then .20 cents, but if you dont live by any place that sels them its 7+ dollars of shipping for a 20 cent item so therefor they are more then 1$. including them with a barebones purchase is an excellent idea as it will save time and money.

First, if you are all willing to deal with lower quantity discounts per order, we would be doing split orders of both complete and barebones fans. If we do that, we need to know up front with each order who will be getting the complete fans. If we were to do a compromise instead, and only do an order of barebones fans and include 3-pin connectors and the pins to insert the wires into the connectors, members would need to do this themselves. In this case it may be acceptable to have willing members be set up as Artisans to provide pinning services for members that ordered barebones fans.

I have conflicting information on distribution, however; Chipp is operating under the assumption that these will not be listed at TankGuys, however admin informed me that they would. This is just another example of why we need to be patient; wait until this is finalized and more hard details will be provided.
I'm barebones then.

So much would adding a bare 3-pin connector to each fan cost? (Not connected to anything)

theres a few different idea up in the air right now,

we can just stick to 2 different orders one barebones and have the pins and ends included with the fan(member would have to install themselves) and one complete already wired and ready.

We can order just barebones and the have OCN members or member do the installation of all the connectors for a small fee.

Or we can just do a complete order

If the the fan connectors and pins are included with the barebones regardless, based off the bulk purchase of the connectors alone it would only add about 10 cents to the price of the fan if you included extras incase of screw ups.

My personal opinion is to do 2 orders, one barebones and one complete. everyone wins, and pins and connectors can still be included with the barebones fans, or to make even easier a bulk order of fan tails can be bought and then the only tool required would be tape.

Oh yes, I forgot to make it apparent if it wasn't already; if we decide to go with barebones only, we need to know ahead of time how many members want those to include the pins/connectors with them so you can pin them yourselves. If we set up any members to be Artisans to provide the pinning services, they need to contact Chipp first so he can set them up. But we can't get ahead of ourselves yet, so let's try to sort out what we want to do first.

My vote is that we start a brand new thread and get this one (EDIT: And the other thread) LOCKED so that we can have fresh information and data. In the new thread I would propose we have 2 spreadsheets - one for the Complete fans, and another for the Barebones fans. The barebones fan can have an additional column stating if the buyer would like to purchase the pins/connectors to install himself -or- to purchase them to have it done for them. I think this would get rid of any last confusion there may be. Also after pricing is finalized it'll clear those questions up as well.

Or just use current spreadsheet and add a column. I do wish there was one thread though. I'm tired of the multiple threads that are already there.

Thanks for the clarification.

Since they will be discontinuing this model, I would like to increase my order:

4 barebones GT-2150's
4 rpm sensor GT-2150's

So put me down for four in each order.
