ASUS M4A89TD PRO/USB 3 aka "Rat Pack" - Page 5

I insist, you should be buying a full tower case, that way you will be able to place the h70 radiator far from motherboard. I'm planning to do so as well.

Sorry but I ordered a Cooler Mater 912 case Saturday and it will be fitted with 6 - 120mm fans at 2000 rpm each
2 in the top
2 in the front
1 in the back
1 in the side
There will also be 2 - 120mm on the cooler and a 140mm in the power supply

There will be so much air flowing that the friction from the air will probably cause it to overheat

you can always replace those hoses and move the radiator outside. It will be a nice mod.

“Rat Pack†has been disassembled to get ready for “Black Ratâ€.
Assembly should start Thursday and be completed in a few days.
I went ahead and cut a 120mm blow hole in top of “Rat Pack†and this small Antec case will now house an old:

ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
Athlon 64 4000
GeForce 7950 GT
2 –SATA II 80 GB hard drives

This will be a back up computer to backup the backup computer. “Rat Pack†was a little short lived but it just could not keep its cool. Say good bye to “Rat Pack†and hello to “Black Rat†… to be continued … I hope it will run a lot cooler?

I used a 4.75" hole- saw and cut a hole in a piece of .75†ply-wood and clamped the ply-wood to the top of the case to keep the saw blade from chattering and then cut the hole in the top of the case.

PS - I had to off-set the blow hole in "Rat Pack" a little so it would fit in the drive bay.

Looking at this build makes me want to ressurect my Old Lan Boy case! Nice work you have done there Tweeky!

Come to think of it, I have an A8N-SLi Deluxe board with a 3500+ sitting around somewhere... Might make a litle home server out of it!

Say Hi ! to "Black Rat"

Parts list:

Picture:
04- Air cooling
06- 6-New case fans
10- Fans installed
15- Original M4A89TD Pro
20- Zalman CPU Cooler

I chose the Zalman cooler because it blows air from front to back and I have used Zalman coolers and they work well.
I hope 6- 120mm case fans @ 2000 rpm will help keep it cool.

23- CPU cooler installed
26- Zalman cnps 9900 max fits nice
30- half done
31- cable management
33- Fan controler

The Zalman cnps 9900 max fits nice but it’s hard to install. I used some tape to help hold the back plate in place this helped with the installation. I could reach around and push on the back plate to start the screws.

Cable management in this case seems harder because there are more options. This is the first time I have used a fan controller with 7 fans there was not a good way to connect them to the motherboard.
