It will be 3G HSPA more than likely.

3G? Why? What is the point. Who does hardcore gaming outside of a wifi zone. I think Sony forgot that portables are for on the go fun. No one wants a gimped version of a game that is must better on a big screen. Why do they think the DS is doing so much better? It have alot more pick up and play games (abet alot of them shovelware) for that on the go experience.

Why would I play on a PSP at home?
Yup...

PSP has a web browser as well remember. It also has Little Big Planet and Modnation Racers, which is better than anything the DS has at the moment for online play.

Nobody cares about the original PSP because of UMD and 5 minute loading times. It also started out with a weak lineup that just didn't work for casual gaming. Thats not the case anymore, since Sony has realized that people love to play casual games.

If they ditch UMD permanently, maybe go with low capacity read only MemoryStick with an option to download the game onto your own media, and come out with a strong lineup then they should be able to put up some stiff competition to the 3DS.

Although with glasses-free 3D and Ocarina of Time as a launch title the only way the PSP2 will have any chance is if it has PS3 graphics, amazing battery life, and a portable version of every IP Sony owns at launch.

How about Sony ditching yet another properitary form factor of MemoryStick instead?

This. There is no damn reason for it, just make SD standard.

I like the PSPGo's direction, ditch UMDs altogether. A purely online market is great IMO, I don't have to leave the house to buy a game I see online when I get home.

I see the PSP2 going hand-in-hand with the PS3. I envision being able to play your PSN games on the PSP2. I don't think amazing graphics is going to sell the system as much as a solidified content distribution system.

Remember, 3DS games are going to cost $40-$50! With $250 hardware to boot, the 3DS really doesn't look that attractive to anyone except for the die-hard nintento fans. PSN games run from $5-$20 and this would give Sony the opportunity to slip into the less expensive, slightly casual on-the-go gaming market. I wouldn't mind playing some Dead Nation or Super Star Dust HD on a portable.
