Any recommendations for a sound card/amp for these speakers? I use BD DT770 Pros with em.

Any sound card with a headphone amp will do. Some that come to mind are: Asus Xonar Essence ST or STX, Creative X-Fi Titanium HD, Auzentech Forte or Bravura.

How loud do these things get? Room filling? House shaking?

Also, how does death metal sound with these? biggrin.gif

I have been wondering as to what sound card I should get.. And what exactly are headphone amps again? I do need to get a good pair of headphones.. Any recommendations?

Not house shaking, but as for room filling, they are meant for you to be sitting right in front of them as they are desktop speakers. The woofer can't handle as much as your home theater one would.

I can't comment on how that music sounds. redface.gif

I'm not the best person to ask about amps and sound cards, but I can vouch for the Asus Xonar Essence. Don't use it anymore, but it did it's job when I had it. Note that some soundcards have built-in headphone amps, not the highest of quality by any means. The essence has one.

Hey all, just wanted to post an update, i ordered my Swan M10's from The Audio Insider, bought last Tuesday and received this Thursday (i am in Canada). Upon arrival i could hear the sound of rolling coming from the box which made me nervous but the shipping boxes were in 100% condition. After opening all of my stuff i have narrowed down the rolling sound to coming from inside the subwoofer.

In this picture you can see the edge of the tube sittin on the back of the magnet for the woofer, this is looking in through the rear port hole.

I was looking on the back and it seemed simple enough to disassemble so i did, after removing the back plate, this is what i found inside.

Any idea what this could be from? Both the front and the back of this sub are ported, both of which the plastic tube is still in place. anyone have any ideas where this may have come from /what i should do?

Right now I'm waiting for an email back from the audio insider to see what they say... other than that haven't even tried the speakers yet.

If that black tube is the same size as the port tubes don't worry about it. It is most likely an extra port tube that was left in there. And since you have now done the Chinaman's job and cleaned up his mess, don't worry about and enjoy.

However, if you plug it in and it sounds like crap you have a problem. Also if it is not a port tube but they sound good don't worry about it.

GL.

Hey all just wanted to Update everyone on what happened with my Random plastic tube issue. I ended up talking with AudioInsider and they were helpful in trying to assess the damage if any caused by the tube, and after some exchange of pictures and helpful displays made in paint we were able to establish that indeed, it was an extra port tube and no damage had been done to the subwoofer.

Everything sounds great, works right and looks nice tongue.gif
