P35 ds3r - e7500

Thread Starter
System:
P35 DS3R Rev2.1 - F13 BIOS
E7500 vid 1.2625
DDR2 800mhz 5-5-5-15

O.C.
max stabile oc
400mhz 1:1
9.5 ratio = 3800mhz
cpu v:1.3500

i want 4-4.5ghz
i cant raise fsb clock 400mhz+ because my rams are incapable.
so i have to raise the ratio 10(4ghz) 10.5(4.2ghz) 11(4.4ghz)
but this mobo want too high voltage for 4 4.2 or 4.4ghz
why?
ds3r has 6 phases and is must not want high voltage.
whats are voltage limit e7500?

the e7500 is a wolfdale, max recommended voltage is 1.45v. Anything higher and i hope you have a spare available.

It is VERY rare to get a wolfdale that goes over 4-4.1ghz without an obscene amount of voltage. 4.5ghz is almost impossible on one unless you have gotten a golden chip.

damn! dont do this man!
i changed my mobo "p5n-e" to "p35 ds3r" yet because of o.c.
p5n-e has 3 phase and not stabil @1.350v p35 has 6 phase.
i have to see 4.2 minimum.
idont like 3.8ghz performance of e7500

i had the same version board as you and it would do 540 fsb with +.2v (1.4v mch) so if anything needs voltage it will be your cpu.

are you running miss matched sticks of ram?

only you might find that just running 2x1gb sticks lets you overclock higher than what you have now.

all ram has some headroom to oc but without knowing what your ram is and set to its hard to help.

edit

i also had the p5n e sli before that and it was fsb limited not voltage for a duo, it got my e4300 to 3.6ghz.

i saw reviews mobo is doing 500~mhz very good scores but core speed is low, its 3.5ghz
my rams 2gb and 1gb so not dual channel.
they are not performance series.
they can maybe see 450mhz but cant keep cas 5 timing.

you need to sell one of them and get another that matches what you have so you get dual chan and its also better for the mch.

the board will do it, try taking the 1gb stick out for now and see, but i would bet its the cpu that needs more voltage. 1.4v should get you near 4ghz maybe 1.425v.

which is better?
500*8.5=4.250mhz
400*11 =4.400mhz

i tried 443mhz 4ghz; 1.400 cpu voltage, 2.00 ram voltage c6 its works seamlessly ffor now.
another question;
i run ortos or prime95 stress tests after oc, its no problem but at the end of stress tests anytime freezing system while i am runnig on desktop
why?
