Open box: MSI P55a Fuzion??

Thread Starter
slowly but surely upgrading my dell turned custom computer. motherboard, ssd, and vid card are next on the list.

I like the Fuzion and happened to find one on newegg that is an open box.
I am a little skeptical of the "open box" because newegg basically states that they cannot guarantee everything that came with the board originally will come with the open box. Does newegg still accept returns on open box items? or will I have to deal with MSI's shoddy customer support? (as others have stated)

If anyone could enlighten me on the open box process as well as the MSI Fuzion or any other board they could recommend.

I am not looking to upgrade for quite a while after this and would like it to be as future proof as possible. i.e. usb 3.0, sata 6gb/s and hydra is also a nice feature.

thanks

It's definitely a nice value for that open board ($137 vs. $175). A semi-large majority of open box items are because of buyers remorse. You might get lucky with one that is still brand new and has all of the accessories.

You have up to 30-days to get a refund (they don't offer a replacement since stock is very limited). If it comes DOA, you can chat with Newegg for which they will give you a prepaid return slip and will negate the restocking fee.

Otherwise, the warranty is handled with MSI → 3-year Limited Warranty.

alright. wasnt sure on the whole open box thing. has anyone ever had any bad experiences with them?

sounds like its just a gamble you have to be okay with, and because im cheap, $38 is worth the gamble.
