a fantastic game, every choice you make, and everything you do, whether you think it has an effect or not has an effect on something else in the game. The order you do missions, how you complete them, how talk to people, do you kill your enemies, or do you disable them. Everything has a consequence. Not to mention it has a great story, with alot of twists that you wont see coming, which make you question all the actions you have made previously.

There is alot to the game. The dossiers in it give you insight into the people you meet, and can help you make decisions about them, also you want to pay attention the body language and expressions, along with their voice to help figure out whether they are lying and such. And you have to do this while on a timer because you have to make your talking decisions very quickly.
Hmm.. I always dismissed this game because it was on the low end of mediocre on metacritic, but now I'm intrigued. In a lot of ways, it seems like KOTOR2 (another Obsidian title), a little bit more time spent and it would've been flawless. I'll have to check it out if it goes on sale.

it got a bad rap from some bugs. Which is has a few, but i never came across anything game breaking or more than a minor annoyance.

for some reason Bioware got a free pass with mass effect 2 and its bugs and graphics, but alpha protocol which is about the same graphically and in bug quality got hammered in reviews.

I was all hyped about AP when it came out but reviews were bad so i waited for it to go on sale, bought it for $20 and was completely blown away by the game, it was nothing like the reviews said.

Alpha protocol was like $5 or something on the steam christmas sale. I wouldn't spend much else then that. Comparing that to ME2 is kind of a joke, ME2 is MUCH MUCH large in scale and can have multiple playthroughs. You can kind of do that in AP but not to the same extent, the game just felt weird for what it was.

it is impossible to ge the entire story in 1 playthrough in AP, because the choices turn the story in directions where you dont find out parts.

I gladly compare it to ME2, both games have their strengths. The choices made in AP and your actions have way more impact on the game than any choices you make ing ME2. The dialogue tree is also better in AP. Hell just choosing to do 1 mission before another will have an effect on the mission you chose not to do. Nothing like that in ME2. Getting Tali before samara changes nothing.

Combat is pretty much the same in the games, while ME you have a squad, in AP you have yourself, and depending on your choices, you could have backup.

ME2 is only bigger because of all the loyalty missions. The main quest in ME2 is shorter than AP, but in AP all you have is the mainquest, with some side parts during it. I suppose you can also say that ME2 you are saving the entire universe, but AP you are only saving the world.
