What cost determines your build?

Be honest, I mean a $2,000 rig just to play a $60 game(s), is it really worth it or is it all about e-peen?

EDIT: added (s) to game

I don't build a rig to only play a single game.

And my rig would probably be 500 dollars in the USA.

well, if you are going to play just 1 game, probably not.

If you play lots of games, and also use it as a media center and other things, then yes.

Its no different than blowing a load of money on whatever your hobby is.

I don't build a PC to game, I build it because it's my hobby, it's my passion, and I enjoy doing it.

Sure, gaming is a big part of the after product, but the knowledge and enjoyment you get out of building, and general usage, is what matters.

I've probably spent £3,000 or so on this PC, and I don't feel like I've wasted a penny.

true to that about 1 game but I could see a hardcore world of warcraft player doing that, I edited the game to game(s)

Well if it's gameS then it could be a LOT of games.

I probably have 500€ worth of games. Cost more than this build did lol. This build only cost 300€ because of recycled parts

If you like doing it, you will spend money on it. e.g. I bought a $1300 Ham radio to talk to people around the world. To each his own.

I agree,my own builds tend to be geared towards what I'll be doing, besides gaming. But I always look at price/performance aspect.

TBH you can set up a great gaming pc with no monitor for 800 bucks and hook it up to your big screen TV. At that point it's a question of weather or not that 600 bucks (difference between the pc and the xbox) is worth it in order to have HD games, access to tons of free applications, and all the other perks a PC offers. I would say that it's worth it in a heartbeat.

That's not what I wanted in my PC however, I do this as a hobby and don't regret spending a single penny. BTW, there really is no comparison in the console world to playing crysis spanned across 3 30 inch monitors with the details cranked up.
