How to convince comcast.. - Page 6

My theory is that the regular customer service reps are getting the same calls over and over and over again. And so they don't know who to believe and will just spill the same spiel over and over and over again. When you get a hold over someone higher up, then you must be serious.

Y'all should check your modems. Comcast did maintenance in my area too. Speed cut in half amongst all my computers. I reset modem and all's well again. I was a bit irritated when it happened though. Because I just fixed a problem with one of my computers getting single digits download speeds.

Customer is always right. Say you will switch to another company. After doing that I now pay for faster Internet with more bandwidth at the same price in Canada.

Actually, they are indeed receiving basically the same calls over and over from the same type of people. I remember talking to a Comcast representative who was actually cool and honest enough to reveal to me that he rarely receives calls from people like me who don't need to be educated on anything. redface.gif But, I don't remember what I did that caused him to be honest with me. I mean, he seemed to assume at first that I was just another one of those computer-illiterate customers.

This.

But strangely enough, my speeds are back to normal and I didn't have to touch my modem or my router. Although, I did mess with both the modem and the router the instant I noticed that the speeds were basically cut in half, except it didn't make any difference. I think it took almost 3 whole days for my speeds to go back to normal, almost as though Comcast wasn't done performing maintenance in my area or something.

I just spoke to my friend who lives fairly close to me and he was also experiencing slow speeds. He got a tech out to his house and turns out his router was very old. He bought a new router and now he is getting 16mbps on testmy.net while I am getting 4-5mbps on that very same website and I am not even using a router.

This is such an unfortunate time for this to happen because we just switched phone companies and the only phone that works right now is my mother's. They called her but I wasn't around..They can't reach me, I can't reach them.

that I am truly getting slow speeds?

My internet is crawling and I am paying $44.95 a month for this service. Taking the speed test on speedtest.net or speakeasy is useless because the file that you download is very small and it makes comcast powerboost bull***** kick in and completely scrambles the results. There is no way I am getting 150mb/s download.

I went and found a more reliable speedtest at testmy.net and here is what I truly get.
352198-XAZHQKW.jpg

I called and told them that my internet is slow and they immediately told me to go to speakeasy.net. I went there and took the speedtest, told the guy I got a download of 150mb/s and he went quiet for a bit and said "You should only be getting 12".

What do I do?
what do you do?!?
Switch to Verizon FiOs like I did, I get 10 times the crap speed Comcast can give 40MBps up AND down ( proof? check my sig) for < $35 a month.

I was wrong: my speeds aren't back to normal. I'm getting about 3 Mbps right now on average at testmy.net.

Can't get AT&T either.

Stay in America, NO Internet Caps!!!! Keep unlimited, fix your slow speeds. You are not using wireless right? I doubt Comcast is that bad for everyone on the east coast...

Reboot the modem, try some file download tests from a site that's always fast like Microsoft, see if that crawls too...

Then personally I think it's the modem. You should be able to just ask to have a tech come and look at it or maybe ask to have the modem changed. Don't just ask "Can you...?" Instead say "I would like to request..." If they ask why just say that you suspect there's a problem with it and you got nothing more to say.
