Future Rig (Suggestions? / Flaws?) - Page 2

^^Updated and still looking. (Gotta love the fast replies here.) After reconsidering, I don't play too demanding games, so I guess I will go down to 570. My rig is mostly for bragging purposes and as a learning experience anyway.

EDIT: I do web devel at the newbie rate of $30/hr and have been saving up.
EDIT2: Any recommendations for rads?

Hell of a rig for a 13-year old. I love seeing youngins being so badass. (I'm 18, I feel ridiculous saying that).

You can drop the RAM even further to save cash; I game at 1080p with AA cranked up, and I don't ever come close to utilizing my 6GB (except for a few freak scenarios with Crysis and the mechwarrior mod eating up all 1.5GB of VRAM and nearly all of my system RAM.)

You can comfortably run two 580's in much less than a 1200W PSU. Look at some Seasonic, Corsair, etc. 800-ish watt PSU's. Get something Gold certified.

EDIT: 570's instead? A good ~700W PSU will serve you well.

Switch up the case, definitely. There are a boatload of options. The NZXT Phantom is a very popular choice right now, as are Corsair's various offerings, like the 600T, 700D, or the upcoming 650D(I'm thinking about this myself).

You've already done well and changed up to the Black. If you run HDD-intensive apps/games, squeeze in a bigger SSD and stick them on there.

EDIT: I noticed now that you're planning to watercool the GPU as well. You'll need more cooling if you plan to keep temps low.

EDIT2: If you're planning to slowly-piece together, I suggest gathering the parts all at once. I don't know what kind of income you have, but if it will take a while to get the money, I guarantee that changes will be made to your list by buy-time.

If your willing to go to a single 570, you can bring the price down to around ~1200 including OS.

I see you already have a Caviar green. I used to RAID mine and never had them fail, so it is still a possibility, but best bet is get a black for games and stuff and use the green as either a mirror or for videos/music. mine are used as scratch disks for photoshop, Protools and final cut.

Yeah, ditch the Caviar Green.

And I would change PSU brands....go Antec or Corsair. I wouldn't risk getting an iffy PSU seeing as it has the power to destroy EVERYTHING in your brand new rig!

But Good luck! I hope you get to build it man

Thanks. I do love the Phantom, but I feel my parents would be offended. (and the box is gone and I doubt I have any warranties)

Back to the graphics: arguments for or against the 570/580?

Here you go man. Get a REAL PSU. Grab one of these! I mean, what the heck is "Sparkle?"

1) I'm going to say around ~$1500, although I don't have that much yet. (around half, actually)
2) 2(1440)x900 = 2880x900, gonna throw in a third eventually.
3) Casual, but I want to get in to more heavy stuff with my new PC. (I am a QuakeLiver)

Changed power supply for the.... fifth time?
