How do you unlock the voltage control in MSI Afterburner?

post #1 of 12
Thread Starter
I'm using beta 6 but I've tried 2.0 as well. I open the CFG file and edit EnableVoltagecontrol = 1 and save the file. Then I open AB and enable voltage control. I then restart the program and nothing happens. The voltage control box is grayed out.

Any thing else I'm missing?

Thanks

H:\\Program Files (x86)\\MSI Afterburner\\MSIAfterburner.cfg
(Or equivalent.)

UnlockVoltageControl= 1
UnlockVoltageMonitoring= 1

Not sure if monitoring is required, but I did it anyways.

It it doesn't work, I dunno. :|

I have a reference card, maybe it won't work with an aftermarket one, I'm not sure.

I remember Asus has trouble unlocking the voltage control in Afterburner. There was a weird work around where it would show +1 -1 for I believe 10mv, but can't recall. Best bet for accurate voltage control is through Asus's own SmartDoctor...

I'll see if I can find the thread for the previously said work around...

Doesn't the card you're using have to have a BIOS that supports/allows voltage control? AFAIK, if your card's BIOS doesn't allow voltage control, then no matter how much config tweaking you do in Afterburner, it still won't work.

I figured this was true because my Gigabyte HD5870 doesn't allow voltage control.
