Westell 327W Modem/Router... intercept another wifi signal?

Quick question... I'm not sure what the term for what I'm wanting to do is...

but...

I received modem/router combo when I had DSL service through Bellsouth a few years ago. Here in my new neighborhood, we have a community broadband link that's free for everyone to use... pretty damn awesome eh?

Well.. unfortunately, our house is about a half acre from the road. My house is fully concrete... therefore that free signal is only accessible from the front room of the house... all windows that face the road. I need that signal in the rear of my home! I know there are different routes I can take... usb hack'n'mod cantennas, parabolic dishes, etc... but if I can do something with this router to save a few bucks, I'd love that.

Just wondering if that router can work as a bridge... or something similar. I also have an el cheapo Belkin... not sure if I can do anything with it either.

take off the rubber ducky of the antenna and take out the old antenna. then solder like a 12 gauge wire to it and then re flash the modem/router, to open source os and mod the voltage going to the receiver/transmitter. good luck to you sir.

You could always get a DD-WRT compatible router and place it in the front of your home.
Once you place it in client mode with the current wireless credentials, you can hook devices into the LAN ports and use it as if it were a giant network card.

Conversely you can place it in wireless repeater mode and the signal would be regenerated through the range of your home.

Thanks for the advice saw! The router has dual antennas... and I have some super strong antennas on it... the problem is not the connection with my router... I just didn't know if I could use it to capture the signal to use it for my network. Thanks though!

And beers, thanks! wireless repeater mode is what I need to look for!!
