but i guess your going for cheap?
1kw PSU @ 12v. Do you know what you are talking about? The TEC is designed to opperate at 24v. At optimum voltage it will be a 437watt tec. At 12 volts it will only be a 109watt, or a 88watt Tec. What would be the point of that. He would need at least two to generate the proper 24volts neded then he would have to run them in a way that does not raise the voltage above 24 [causes tec to burn out] and not below 24 [not at optimum] I know that some people have ran theres at 12 volts. I just dont see the point in that. You can buy 12 volt tecs that will run much better than a 437watt tec at 12 volts. Do some research. I have beeny working on a project using TECs. I just need one more component.
The project is a solar powered water generator. I will put a large solar panel on the roof and conect it to a few electronically switched peltiers. I will tune the timing to get the optimum ammount of ice build up. then it turns off the ice melts and fills up a water tank. I just hope the water tastes good . I live in phoenix so there is plenty of sunlight.
There is another option though. If he did get a PCP&C 1kw tec. He might be able to run the PSU at 48v. If it doesnt turn itself off if the circuits are crossed then he could run two rails in parallel and then power the tec off of it. this would allow for two 48v rails. I have a feeling that the power supply will just turn itself of though.
