I'd save for Sandy Bridge instead and make the major platform shift.

PS good work getting a Q8400 to 3.7!
Actualy its at 3.8Ghz, but not stable after 20 hours Prime95. at 3.7Ghz im passing 24 Hours Prime95 without failing. Temps max at 65c in IBT and 62c in Prime95, Vcore is 1.41v, Im sure i could go higher, but dont want to in fear of damaging the cpu.

Yea the 2500k is 210, and then another 200 for a decent MB, and 150 for Memory, that adds up to a total of 560$. If i could get the Q9650 for 200-210, i would be OK for another year or so, and then going for LGA2011...

What settings are you at? I'm running mine at 3.2, I'd love to bump it up a bit... What do you figure is the max safe voltage for the chip?

On Topic, I'm planning to stay on the 775/8400 until I go to 1366 or Sandy Bridge.
