hey hey boys and girls.

i have been without a pc for a while so time to get back on.

so i managed to get some cheap stuff from a friend, (tower case, 750W psu, 76GB 10k rpm raptor drive, GTS250 card and 2Gb crossair ram)

the mobo or cpu, either one of them is dead.

i am looking for a cpu/mobo/ ram deal, i cant afford much so i guess AMD will be better for price/performance????

could you guys advise me on whats the best i should be buying since i am an intel guy?

probably wont be overclocking to start.

i was looking at some bundles but the mobo was crap.

my budges is £200 for cpu/mobo/ram would like a half decent mobo
could put some more money if needed but would like to stay withing the budget.

SLI would be ideal but not mandatory ( was thinking on getting another cheap gts250 and do SLI or i can get a gtx 460 later

thanks for the help guys

is your current ram ddr, ddr2 or ddr3?

not many amd boards will do sli (poor nvidia chipsets)

for under 200, you could easily get a phenom x2 or athlon x4 with a decent board
if you want new ram, you probably would need to go down to a athlon x2

Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 880G Socket AM3 8 Channel Audio ATX £73.59
AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition 3.2GHz Socket AM3 6MB £71.79
G-Skill 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz/PC3-12800 Ripjaw Memory Kit CL7(7-8-7-24)£52.00
+8.98 next day on ebuyer comes to £206.29

have you looked at the Oc'd bundles on Overclockers, also what's novatech like, I always look at it but always end up buying from overclockers

How about this, then when you get some extra cash you could buy a Phenom or something

See if you can find an ASUS M4A79XTD EVO
in the US they retail for less than M4A88TD-V EVO, have many of the same features (except for USB3 & SATA3), and supports Crossfire 8X-8X.
