It was made as part of the orange box, which was meant so that they could try out some zany stuff, without possibly disappointing the customer. It was a concept to show people. Reception was good great so they made a full-blown (full priced) sequel, portal 2, meant to stand on its own. Where Portal was meant to be short SP only, relying on HL2 for a longer SP and TF2 for MP.

They said that the single player would be 4x as long. They also said the multilayer will be different from the single player and will also be 4x as long as the first. This was announced awhile ago, and I have class so I can't find a source for you now, but try googling it.

well if I ever make a map I'll make sure to add loads of extra geometry just to stop consoles from getting decent framerates on it

the amount of console hate on here borders on irrational. what does it matter if some people prefer a one-time investment of $300-400 on their system?

sure, you get the better experience, overall... but does that mean you have to constantly point out the deficiencies of consoles? it honestly only makes you seem really insecure about your PC gaming experience if you have to rag on other people's chosen experience SO MUCH.

Im just pointing it out. Consoles have their benefits too... just because we are hardcore computer fanatics doesn't mean that there is zero purpose for consoles.

Im not saying i'm just saying... ease up on the console hate, for your own sake. be at ease with yourself, y'all.

I don't hate consoles, I love them in fact. They're perfect when you just want to sit back, relax and play.

I wonder how much of the cost of development did the 360 eat up so that there could be a PS3 and PC version... You know...It's called "porting."
