Athlon II x2 250 OC help

Thread Starter
Hello guys today I replaced my old CPU with Athlon II x2 250 on ASUS M2N-E mobo and I've got OC problem, pls help me.

The thing is when I raise FSB slightly, even to only 205 MHz, save it and reboot, cpuz shows only 200MHz... I can't set anything CPU related (multiplier, voltage, FSB). Weird thing is when i set HT to 3x cpuz shows it (default is 1000MHz but cpuz shows 600MHz)

I had Athlon 64 X2 3800+ before this CPU on the same mobo, RAM and everything and had stable FSB at 250 MHz

note: I've got newest 5001 BIOS and this CPU is supported. Ran memtest on all modules and they seemed to be OK

Thanks a lot

EDIT: forgot to mention that if I reboot PC and go to BIOS after this, BIOS settings are the way I set them, nothing changed to default or something

Did you flash the bios with the old cpu in or the new one?

Try a cmos reset,if does not help try reflashing the bios.
Remember to set bios to defaults, before and after flashing.

Good luck

Flashed in with the new CPU (note: the old BIOS v. 3001 already identified this CPU correctly)

I tried CMOS reset like 10 times

I dit this: change CPU > CMOS reset > load bios defaults > win7 loaded > win7 automatically changed drivers > reboot > win loaded > reboot > OC attempt

Do u mean reflashing with the same version?

New finding: I can lower multiplier (MB can't raise it above 15) and i can lower the Vcore too and cpu-z shows my value, not default (note: when I raise Vcore, cpu-z shows default value)

still booting correctly with no errors or POST interrupted

Pull all but one stick of ram, leave the stick of 400 in and see if that helps.
It looks like you have three different speeds of ram. That is going to give you trouble.

Already tried with each stick even with lowering clocks in BIOS... As I said before, I had just this rig with 64X2 overclocked to 250 FSB with no problems stable for a few months, never caused any trouble

Is cool and quiet disabled? Did you load performance default in bios settings before you tried overclocking? For sake of stability throw out all memory exept those 333 mhz sticks wich enable you to run dual channel, Lock your pcie frequency to 100 and set cpu/pci to unganged.

When raising the baseclock try to keep an eye on your memory speed, try to stay as close as you can to the refference speed.
