Sometimes, no display/post at start up.

First of all, I don't know whether or not this thread should come under the Monitors and Displays category but I cannot see another topic that is associated with this thread.

OK, I turn my PC on and sometimes there is a display of the post screen but other times there would not be any display whatsoever. When my PC starts and displays the post screen, the graphics card fan would reach it's highest speed for a few seconds and then it would go back to the speed it has been set at. When the PC starts and the monitor does not display the post screen, the graphics card fan would constantly reach it's highest speed until I turn it off. After turning it off I then turn it back on and the PC powers up as it should (post screen is displayed), I have bought a new monitor and updated my BIOS recently and it seems to do exactly the same thing.

Other information are; I have left my PC running when it does not post and it does not recover, I do not have a speaker for my motherboard (could be a problem), most of my components less than a year old, nothing is overclocked, I leave my power supply switched on except when I go to bed, I only switch everything off via the main socket and not the power supply switch.

Any other information you need to know, just ask.

Thanks.

No display + GPU fan on max speed = faulty, mis-seated or power not correctly plugged in

I have made sure that the GPU is not mis-seated and the power cables for both GPU and motherboard including 12v 8-pin connector but everything seems to be fine.

Note, gaming hasn't reduced in performance due to this problem.
