Looking for a pair of all-around headphones

Hi guys,

First of all, I live in Canada, so the availability of good headphones is next to none.
So I'm looking for an all-around pair of headphones, with a <$200 budget...
I would like them to be closed (design), but you'll need to convince me if an open design should be better.
I looked around this subforum and many suggested the...
  • ATH AD700/A700
  • JVC HARX900 (Discontinued, so I won't really be looking at this one)
  • Sennheiser HD555
  • ATH M50 (Not available anywhere near Canada)

But I also found the Fischer Audio FA-003 which looks pretty good from reviews (It's also available here in Canada, so no import taxes/duties/brokerage fees)

My musical tastes: classical, pop, indie, ("Beatles" type of music)
And tbh I don't really listen to music because I do not own a pair of headphones (Privacy thing, I don't like people hearing what comes out of my speakers) so with headphones I'll be able to listen to my own music +) and compose some too, on occasion...

Suggestions?

If you aren't going to be gaming then i suggest the a700 closed back headphones. The ad700's have a great soundstage as i just got them in today. But they are rather large. I guess you got to have a big tator head for them. But i can hear stuff in the game i never heard before. The sennheiser 555's have a bit better bass then the ad700's though but both are open back. So i vote the a700 close back headphones for you.

I have a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pros and they're pretty nice phones. Comfy too. They are around your price range.

Those would be good except I'm pretty sure they have an impedance high enough to require an amp, which would put him well over his budget unless the OP already has one.

I would recommend the A700 if since you are looking for a closed headphone and they are great for the price. They also have a low 64 ohm impedance so they can be driven fairly well by just about anything.

For some reason I am unable to find the A700 model in Canada (There's no shop where it's in stock)

What are my other options? How about the FA-003?

There is a version of the DT 770 Pros with 80 Ohm impedance. I don't think that would need an amp.

The 80ohms do not need an amp what so ever, they sound fantastic also.

What is better between the 32ohms version and the 80ohms version if I do not use an Amp?

I thought that lower resistance offered better sound?

And any feedback for the Fischer Audio FA-003 vs DT770?
