1GB Sapphire HD 6950 on newegg $260

Thread Starter
Apparently this may be old news, but in spite of the 560 thread, there is a 1GB HD 6950 on newegg for $260. This is currently the only 1GB variant of the 6900 series available so far (I think).

Are we to assume the 1GB 6970 will be $40 cheaper as well?

2 more 6950s are on the egg; both are XFX. $275 for a mildly overclocked one(830/1300). $265 for stock.

I fail to see the attraction of this gpu w/o the 2gb vram. The 69xx gets hammered by Fermi at medium to low res.

I think it's aimed at gamers with ~$260 to spend. The Fermi you're referring to cost $90 more. Benches will tell us if Nvidia's 560 will be a better value for this price range.
