Looking to upgrade to Nvidia

Thread Starter
I'm finally deciding to sell my HD 4870 X2. Considering what I spent on the damn thing 2 years ago, it's a bit tough to toss it up on ebay but I'd like to get a couple new cards or even just one. I'd also like to go Nvidia. Any suggestions on my next card purchase would be greatly appreciated.

IMO a GTX580 is going to be the obvious answer, should do all that you need at 1920x1200

Or even a 480 if your budget can't stretch to a 580!

I figured as much. Trying to stay around the $400 range. Wasn't sure whether to go with a 2x GTX 460 SLI or a GTX 570. So on and so forth.

Yeah, Personally out of them two options I'd go for the 570!

Yea, was thinking the same thing. Figured I could snag one now and then buy another a bit down the road. Now to just get that damn furnace they call a vid card(HD4870x2) to sell on ebay.

Quick guide, in order, most powerful, to lower.
GTX580: King of the hill, all hills, even the red ones.
GTX480=GTX570: A pair of pretty equal cards. The 480 is hotter and more power hungry than the 570, but a little more powerful.
GTX470: About as low as you'd want to go from a 4870x2, hotter than the 570 and not as quick, but great value for money, and packs a punch.

I've not seen how the 560 performs yet, it may well equal the 470 like the 570 is about the same speed as a 480, in which case it'll be an amazing card. But the 470 still has advantages, like more than one SLi connector...

I recommend the GTX470 and GTX570, the best power to money spent cards, especially now the 470 has come down in price. The 460 is a nice card, but you'd need 2 of them to beat the 570, and you can get a single 570 for less than 2 460s.
