Core Stability Question(X2 550BE)

Thread Starter
Hello everyone, looking for some advice regarding activity I've seen in TMonitor64 with my cores whilst running OCCT 's auto 1 hour CPU stability test. I have unlocked a 3rd core and run stable for months now @ 3.5GHZ, however recently I've been pushing the limits and reaching towards that ever evasive 4GHZ OC.

I did reach 4GHZ today yet clearly unstable, working on the voltages now but my question is:

Is it normal for core activity to vary in TMonitor?

In OCCT testing @ 4GHZ these are core averages before BSoD'ing about 5mins in.

Core1- 3.75GHZ
Core2-4.01GHZ
Core3-3.95GHZ

Does this mean my main core just isn't capable of handling such a speed? Or possibly a simple voltage issue?

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1616876

Currently raising core voltage and to a lesser extent NB voltage, any advice?

**Update**
Turns out this issue is limited to OCCT stability tests it seems all is well when monitoring Prime95 but I could still use guidance regarding the voltage generally used to maintain 3.9+GHZ clocks on Phenom II CPU's. I honestly do not mind overvolting and reducing the life of this CPU a bit because I will be replacing it within a year anyways. Just trying to get the most out of this chip before it ends up collecting dust.

So 1hr 20mins stable blend at 3.9Ghz, will be going for that elusive 4Ghz+ stable OC tomorrow.

Cool nice work mate how ever I think you may have trouble with 4 as your already nearly at the max volts an the C2's are good for not letting you get to 4ghz mad.gif

Unfortunately the chances are slim but I can give it a go >=) Worst case scenario I still have some nice results for a $90 or so CPU. At least I know for sure it won't be bottle necking my GTX 460's when I get them on Wednesday.

**Been a pain in my butt so far the main core on this CPU is a real stubborn thing, very touchy everything has to be just right for it to cooperate above a 17.5x multiplier >.>

After close to 6 hours os stress testing while I was asleep I ran blend and this happened

[Dec 17 06:13] Test 13, 270000 Lucas-Lehmer iterations of M401407 using FFT length 24K.
[Dec 17 06:15] FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.4999694824, expected less than 0.4
[Dec 17 06:15] Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.
[Dec 17 06:15] Torture Test completed 191 tests in 3 hours, 33 minutes - 1 errors, 0 warnings.
[Dec 17 06:15] Worker stopped.

The other 2 cores were fine, so sadly I was correct it won't be possible to keep 4Ghz+ as the main core on my chip cannot handle it. Will likely back off on voltage and run at 3.9 or close to it.

**ignore the time/date got reset somehow grrr**
