htpc video card help...

Hi guys, I am looking for a good budget video card that will allow me to watch 1080p movies on my lcd tv well. I really don't know what is good to get or what's bad so any help would be much appreciated.

Could we have more information about what it's going to be used as? If you're saying you're using it to watch 1080p movies on your LCD, does that mean it's a HTPC? Want to do some gaming on it as well? Need more details.

260's can do quite a bit. Don't know about the goodness of the brand tho, but that can be changed.

However, GT450's have a mini HDMI, or was it a full HDMI? Whatever, it works with your hdtv and should have an adapter

If this is also for gaming, get atleast an ATI 5770 or Nvidia 450 or better.

the newer ATI 5XXX/6XXX series , tend to run alot cooler than the Nvidia cards of comparable performance.

On the other hand, many people say Nvidia has better driver support.

have fun shopping

If you're running through HDMI, make sure you get a card that supports audio over HDMI.

I use a GT220 and its rock solid.

Gigabyte GT 430 OC or HD 5450 OC is good for HTPC

How bout an hd 5550 or an hd 4650?
If I needed a low profile card I would go with a gt430 or 5570.

For gaming I would use a gtx460, 6870, or gts450, 6850
