Other mice with Philips Twin eye track just as silly even without a sticker.

Afaik. Razer has that foot on there to minimize sensor jitter. Welp, they wouldn't need it if they stopped using the PTE altogether.

My cheap PC Line laser mouse has a holographic sticker around the laser, I assume it's to help tracking too.

and last... I pulled the sticker off and it acted goofy, not moving on dark surfaces acting spuratic exc. Glued the sticker back on and it works fine now..... what else is there to say? I think everyone can agree that for whatever strange reason it may be there for you should not remove the sticker.
there's a reason I said almost, but now I'm beginning to suspect that you actually are

can you not understand how there might have been something else affecting sensor performance and not a sticker that completely avoids contact or line-of-sight with the sensor?

seriously, this thread reminds me of the joke about how putting the AMD or Intel sticker on your case will make the CPU perform better.

Its a friggen sticker...

Interesting, but I doubt the lack of the sticker ruins it by itself.
Have a Lachesis myself, and since the early firmwares were buggy, I got quite a bit of jitter at first in combination with the Mantis Control pad. Not long before the newer firmware came out (that was almost two years ago), razer support advised removing the sticker - which I did. And for some strange reason, it did lessen the jitters, but didn't completely solve it. But the firmware update did.
Currently sitting on 1.91 FW and have no problems.
Have you tried updating it? Cleaning the lens?

My Razer Naga doesn't have a sticker... It does have a teflon foot around the sensor though.

removed the sticker on my own Lachesis and can refute the OP's claim that it will mess up the mouse, mine works just fine without the sticker

seriously, its just a sticker, don't worry about it ruining your mouse, the OP must have had something else go wrong. In fact it took quite a bit of work just to remove the sticker, so if it was falling off the OPs mouse I can only imaging the wear and tear he's put on it to get it in such a state.

Not to go too far off topic, but those who seem to have no problems with the old model Lachesis, what FW are you running? Someone above mentioned 1.91, but I had issues with that as well as 1.94 (win7x64). I removed the sticker a while back per another forum suggestion and that didn't really do me much good, but it certainly didn't make it any worse.

I'm starting to think I need to change mouse pads. I've always used these standard black soft pads you get for like $2

It's a shame, really. The Lachesis seems like such a nice mouse, but the sensor is just whacked out. Every so often I go back to my Diamondback 3G but get annoyed at having fewer buttons.

I think I had 1.94 firmware with 7x64. If the claims by another user are correct that he removed his sticker and it worked fine are true then there must be something else wrong. My pads are so worn down that it scratched on the desk :/

Well, I can vouch for the sticker claim - As mentioned, Razer actually suggests removing the sticker for those that have the "jumping" issues. Personally, I didn't see any difference at all when I removed it from mine. If you're interested, check this forum for various claims and other issues. I would say that there's a reason they launched a new model of the Lachesis late last year...then again, 1.91 supposedly corrected all the jumpy issues, though mine persist.

I finally just went and cranked all my settings to about as low as they'll go where the mouse is still usable. So far this seems to help with my issues, but sort of defeats the purpose of having nice gaming mouse. Fortunately, because of the Lachesis's profile settings, I suppose I can just use the 'low' settings in Windows and change to something more usable for gaming in-game.
