Well, I have a 3.0 GHz Prescott OC'd to 3.15 on air cooling. I have a Pentium 4 Extreme Edition coming soon and i will OC the heck out of that chip. i expect around 4 GHz. I am Running an ASRock P4VM400. I have 2 GB DDR 400 RAM on the way, and an ATI X1950 Pro on the way, currently an nVidia 6800 XT 256 MB DDR3 in there currently. I just have 80 GB drive in currently b/c it is my backup rig but it is a fun OC machine. I have it in just a lame mATX case but it does the trick. I only have 768 MB in there right now. so I will have windows 7 Ultimate ont there soon. Nothing OC's like a the old P4. And any AMD Black Edition chip. I can't say im a fan of the new intel unlocked chips. they are kinda wimpy(this excludes sandy bridge and EE chips).

Which P4EE? And yes assuming the mobo can handle it 4ghz on the EE's should be a cake walk.

My backup rig is a (used to be my daily pc) p4p800-mx with a gallatin p4 2 gigs of ram and a x1550. Great pc. With a new videocard that had HDMI it would make a heck of a HTPC.

It is the 3.4(not the 3.46). i wish i could get my hands on the 3.46, apparantly it was apparantly the best to OC and to run, that L3 cache really helped a lot. it is a really crappy board, mATX, very few features, however it does have 2 SATA and 2 IDE which is a plus. what was your old P4 EE rig? Tell me about it.

The gallatin p4ee's all had 2mb L3 cache(only reason I got the chip).
Pretty sure the 3.46's were all LGA775.
Old rig's a barely used asus P4P800-mx, sucked for overclocking rock solid stable though.
A SLCH7 p4EE 3.4ghz(socket 478) and a massive aftermarket cooler.
4 x512 Mushkin ddr-400
HIS x1550 pci videocard.
Couple of 160 gig seagate drives.

Never oc'd it but a bit(mobo bios caps at 212) Did use setfsb and programs of the like to set the fsb to 225 occasionally though, never left it there for very long.
Great PC. Could use the onboard video + dual monitors on the x1550 without a hitch. Hell with the ssd I use now it wasn't any slower for most light things than my sig rig is. Am tempted to get a better pci videocard for it and turn it into an HTPC for the kitchen or living room... The main reason I replaced it was because it only has PCI and the videocard's fan died(put a case fan under it which works fine but is ghetto as hell) and getting a newer videocard and putting it in a pci slot just seemed wrong. Plus it only has sata1.5 and I was tired of using HDD's slower than some of the flash drives I use. Some of the usb ports were dead... It was past it's prime. It's lived its 4 year's so I got another one to last the next 4.

Are the SPD values & current timings identical between the sticks? Also, are you trying to run any of those sticks in dual channel? Try running the OEM sticks only and see how that goes.

-----------------------

Now comes my personal issue. I really hope this doesn't violate the rules much, as I'm basically making a "Wanted" post... Well, if it does, I'm sorry, feel free to delete it.
Anyway.
Since my current pay is crap, I decided to go with used LGA775 components for my new rig. Already got a cheap Asus P5Q(yes,the regular one :/). Haven't decided on the RAM and GPU yet, but the CPU will be a Q6600. Here's the issue: I can't afford to get everything at once, so I'll most likely be getting the RAM and the GPU first (a week left till payday ). Since I really don't want to wait another month to get the system up and running, I'm in need of a cheap LGA775 Pentium. A Pentium D would be awesome, but beggars can't be choosers, so I'm open to all suggestions. It needs to be as cheap as possible, so that I can splurge on my upcoming GPU a little The budget... It'd be great if it was sub-$20, but I'm willing to spend up to $30, if it means I'll be able to get some overclocking fun before switching to the quad So there you have it. If you have any suggestions, feel free to drop me a PM. It would, ultimately, benefit this thread as well, since I'd be able to drop in some OC & bench results

dont go C2Q. they suck, and had issues. get an i3 540 and an 1156 mobo. you can get that whole setup for about the price of a C2Q. Please man, save your self the cash. also if your looking for budget parts, goto www.geeks.com i hate deadling with there customer service but they are cheap. I am telling you, C2Q isnt upgradable, the i3 is. and teh i3 is semi new

The Q6600 is one of the best processors there is for overclocking (rev G0. sspec:SLACR). can hit 4GHz just as easily as an i7

On a side-note, Hyoketsu, ive got a Celeron D 352 (3.2GHz) laying around that i have absolutely no use for. pm me if you're interested...
The overclockability is one of the prime reasons why I chose to go with the C2Q line; the other one being the fact, that my chances of finding a used 1156 mobo and a similar i3 CPU in my vicinity are close to nil. 775 boards & CPUs, OTOH, are a dime a dozen. Thanks for the suggestion, djleakyg, but I'll stick to my plan
@Nemesis158: sorry, but my P5Q doesn't support that CPU. It's probably because of the FSB. Thanks for the offer anyway!
