Thread Starter
Hey Guys my HD4650 did not arrive as those guys had no stock.

Hence I upgraded my P4 Desktop to a 2nd Gen core i3 2100.

I still have my P4 HTPC in the living room which still rocks.

I've got a pentium 4 ht. It's a prescott core, 2.8ghz, and socket 478. Here's a cpuz validation: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1777696

Sucks that this is my fastest rig, paired with an 8 shader 8400gs frown.gif

My older but trusty pc.

Works great for daily task ever since I got rid of the original OS and Dell bs
that came on it.A nice clean XP install does wonders. To bad I can't overclock it smile.gif .

Some numbers(Weak lol).

edit:
Ran IBT
Had to do custom and 230mb of RAM lol

OK, I just pulled my old Advent 3308 Pentium 4 rig out of the loft so I could be a member of this club... Once I've cleaned off all the dust and dismantled it I'll post some pics! (Specs below)
And yes, It is a 180nm Willamette.

I'm reviving my old P4 HT Northy for my cousin. The mobo i was using on it had "died" but all it needed was a capacitor changed. Pairing it all with 2 GB DDR-400 RAM and my ol' trusty ATI Radeon 9200 128 MB AGP card

It's a D1 stepping 90nm Northy (SL6WK), running at 3 GHz. Been hearing these are awesome clockers (first batch of the HT series) and i want to know if there is any pin mod or something to OC it on an Intel mobo, at least a couple MHz more, just for the lulz.

I remember when this beast came out, when the term multi-core was just heard in truly high-end enterprise systems. Along with the 9200, it rocked on games (i remember playing CoD2 on this). And it lasting his long is a testament to its awesomeness.

This is actually the second one i've owned. The first one i had was a 2.4 GHz P4 Northy that i killed on an abit mobo when OCing (got to 3.5 GHz stable, but at 1.79v it died on me a couple months later, then that mobo got thrashed with a broken pipe tongue.gif)

Correction: your current northy is 130nm wink.gif
And eek.gif at 1.79v. If I recall correctly, the Nortwood Sudden Death Syndrome (or whatever it was called) could occur at anything above 1.7v. Having lasted a couple of months, your chip must've been pretty darn durable smile.gif

Sorry, but I have no experience in pin mods. Mayhaps someone else could provide some insight on this matter?

Orly? Thought only Willamettes were 130mm. Well, CPU World says they are 130mm indeed.

And yea, after it died i investigated and then i knew why it died, hence the fear of OCing my proer, HT P4 tongue.gif

This became known as Sudden Northwood Death Syndrome (SNDS), which is caused by electromigration.

But hell, getting 1.1 GHz more out of a P4 with stock cooler while keeping temps on check was awesome. Too bad all the CPU-Z proofs got lost on a HDD failure T_T

Also, here are the 'lil pieces of win. The 2.4 GHz does not work anymore, but it's a testament to my first CPU OC attempt. Weirdly it looks almost brand new, as i pulled it from an OEM PC and only lasted me 2 months. The P4 HT was my first self-assembled PC (before that parents would only buy branded PCs) and as you can see it has survived many mounts and unmounts. Still works like a charm tho.

I have a Pentium 4 630 Prescott OC'd to 3.6 GHz (stock is 3.0GHz) and its plenty stable and fast. i have it paired with an Nvidia 9500GT 512MB. My CPU stays around 56-58C idle and my GPU stays around 57-59C idle. Under load, my CPU probably gets to about 70C or so, and the same with my GPU. (although, occasionally, my gpu gets into the 90's. its kinda scary) and for the rest of my rig, check out the sig. For upgrades, (since i dont want to replace my mobo) i'm going for a Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz. its easy to overclock, and its the best value for the series. For GPU upgrade, I thought about getting a form of an Nvidia GTS 450, but i didnt think it would cut it for the things i want to do(like show off unigene heaven at 60 fps) so, i'm instead going to go for either a GTX 460 or a GTX 480. but that will be quite far down the road. I'm kinda broke right now. frown.gif
