Denon AH D2000

Thread Starter
Hey all,

I've been looking into getting a pair of headphones for gaming, music and possibly video/sound editing a little in the future. I really have no experience with headphones, as I have always used speakers, but I really want a quality pair. I have no tolerance for low quality sound.

I looked around and found the Denon AH D2000s. They seem to be a great balance between quality and price. I don't want noise cancelling. I hate changing batteries and I heard that noise canceling headphones have other issues such as high frequency noise generated by the increased air pressure coming from the speakers. Is that correct?

Anyway, really I'm just looking for some great headphones that will fit around the ear (not on-ear as I find them uncomfortable).

Thanks.

edit: If people have suggestions for a sound card that would work well with these headphones, that would also be nice.

I think the D2000's are a good choice for a blind jump into decent headphone audio. They handle all types of music well, and don't require an amp. Just make sure you find a pair properly priced, you should be able to find them for $260 or less.

Can anyone supply a link at this price? I've heard all around that I should be able to find them but can't. Did the price go up in the last year?

Buy.com had them for $230 a month or two ago. Sometimes all the decently priced ones are sold out and you have to wait a bit until new stock comes around.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll just wait around then.

ive tried both.

sound clarity is about the same on both models, but the 2000 are louder (vocals are louder) due to a larger driver in each can. i tried both of them at my local audio enthusiast retailer which hooked them up on a decent amp. the 2000 do weight a bit more but not by much and, but i didn't feel like paying $100 more for that difference, so i stuck with the 1100. For gaming its absolutely fine.

cant say im disappointed with the decision.
