Single saphire HD 6970 running eyefinity (multi-monitors)

Okay I know how to run 3 monitors off my 6970 with eyefinity, but before i order the monitors i wanted to bounce this question to get some feedback. PC set up is on stock bios. was going to get everything stable before i start the overclocking process.

pc specs:
i7-950 (stock bios)
asus p6x58d premium mobo
8gb corsair ddr3 @ 1600
Sapphire radeon hd 6970

computer is only used for gaming.

question was... will 1 hd6970 run eyefinity with no fps decrease on a 4320x900 resolution (3 led lcd backlit monitors)

really dont wanna spend another 370bucks to crossfire them if i dont have to.

any input would be great.

You might have some FPS drop, but you should be able to run most games and such high FPS that the drop won't make a difference.

cool yea thats exactly what i was thinking.

i think if i was running in 4320x1080 i would most likely have to crossfire to not feel the effects.

but i dont feel the fps drop would be to significant to warrant a 370$ purchase at least not yet.

You might drop a few FPS, but not enough to drop you to a point where it would matter. You will most likely be above 60FPS anyway. And not all games will look good running across all three monitors in which case you won't see a decrease at all barely if any.

The more demanding games such as metro, crysis (if you still play it), BFBC2 ect, I would expect you MIGHT have to tone down the settings slightly.

I couldn't find many benches for the 6970 but here is one for the 5870 eyfinity 6 edition, It more or less doesn't lose any frames going from 1 to 3 monitors, this card has 2gb of RAM too so it should be directly comparable (apart from running a little slower overall)

Edit: welcome to OCN mate.

Edit again: sorry I think I'm reading the benches wrong, I'll look for another review.

awsome thank you. yea i could only find 1 review for the 6970 eyfinity test but was a xfire of it so couldnt really get a clear idea of how one solo would do.

edit: haha these days i only use crysis as a benchmarking tool. mostly gonna get this ready for the release of swtor for peripherals and use for bfbc2

thanks for the welcome.

Bad Company 2 runs on medium at 5670x1080 at 2x aa no issues. can run max out at 0x aa and it's fine too. This is a 6870.

When you get it all running post some results, I am planning on getting another couple of monitors myself for my 6970, would be nice to see the FPS difference.
