Gtx 460 FTW & Black Ops

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums but I'm glad I found this awesome place Anyway, I have a Q6600 that's not over clocked, 6 Gigs of RAM,EVGA GTX 460 FTW GPU & Windows 7. I've been having crazy drops in FPS with this game in windows 7. Its a complete roller coaster with stutter. I've gone through all the updates with the drivers. Just wondering if any other guys are experiencing issues that have this card and or similar setup? I know BLOPS is plagued with issues but I have friends that have a similar setup that actually get a stable FPS. Any ideas out there ? Y'all seem to know what you are talking about so I figured why not ask Is my CPU causing a bottleneck perhaps? I have done all the cfg tweaks too and I turn shader warming off, shadows and vsync. Any ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The CPU should be more than enough for Black Ops. What PSU do you have? When does the FPS drop actually happen?

Thanks for the reply, I have an Antec 550 Watt PSU, the fps drops randomly during the game, during firefights or when i'm outside running around in the level. I was not sure if it's maybe an old hard drive that could cause these issues too. My HDD is like 4 years old lol.

its an issue with the game, not your rig. sad to say it but with my sig rig i cant even play the game without getting poor FPS.

Why turn shader warming off? When it's on, it can save you a lot of stuttering.

I did some tweaks off this page and it helped out massively on my FPS dip. Got a 955 @ 4.0Ghz and 460 HAWK, 260.99 drivers also

when i went from my old Q6600 to my current i5-2500K, my min framerate went from low 30's to 91 pegged at 1920x1080. your GTX 460 is more than enough for Black Ops. your Q6600 is holding you back in this particular game.

Thanks for the reply folks. I turn shader warming off because it causes issues with connectivity lol. Don't ask why, just another problem with BLOPS. Regardless, I appreciate the info from yall. I may try to OC and see if I can get some improvements.
