Not sure if this is adequate enough..

Silverstone:

21cfm @ 51db through a 120mm rad.

GT-AP15:

40cfm @ 47db through a 120mm rad.

That's more than enough for me to not spend my money for this fan, on a rad/HS. Great case fans, they might be.

Apart from being incredibly boring those vids don't really prove the Silverstone would make a bad heatsink fan. It's not about high CFM. It's about the way the air is moved. Also, personally, I'm not overly worried about fan noise. Currently I have 3x UK 3000s running. Can't get much louder than this.

I think so. If only 20cfm of air can move through the HS, it doesn't have enough static pressure to push any more through. The GT-AP15's have enough SP to push enough cfm through the rad to constitute it a good enough fan for a HS or rad.

40cfm of air through a rad/HS can dissipate more heat, quicker, than a fan with 20cfm of air moving through a rad/HS.

By that logic, why doesn't everyone just strap on a couple of UK 3000s? I use to have an Antec Big Boy on the side panel and it's rated at 134 cfm but everything's cooler with the 2x Silverstone's.

I'll have time to play around on the weekend. I don't even know if I'll bother trying them on the heatsink.

Because they are pretty dang loud, no? 66db, Martin is reporting. They are good performing, but fairly loud.

I have 45db fans, and can't imagine another 20+ db.

Because not everybody wants their computer to sound like a jet-engine

Different cooling solutions for different people. Everybody has different preferences for noise/cooling.

I like a quiet computer so I use Gentle Typhoon AP-14s rather than higher speed fans. They move plenty of air and they don't make a lot of noise.

It's all subjective and down to personal preference though. (At least when it comes to noise)

I already said above, I'm not worried about noise. I already have 3x UK 3000s and I don't mind the noise.

Yeah, that's cool and all. But some people do mind the noise...

Yeah, that's true. My point tho is just because the GTs are rated at a higher cfm doesn't mean they are more effective.
