How to set as default-close current tab when the red X is clicked in IE9? When I click the Red X I want IE9 to always just close the current tab and not pop open the window asking if I want to close the current tab. any help would be appreciated smile.gif

Your using IE..

if i were you i would use another browser.

Firefox is really stable.

Chrome is gaining popularity

I would also disable IE its only a host for viruses.

I have tried all the browsers out there, and I like IE9, so does anybody have a real answer with out IE bashing? I do know that each tab can be closed separately by clicking the little x on each tab or right clicking the tab then choose close tab. But I would like to just click the red X in the right corner and just have the current tab close. Anybody?

I agree with you IE9 isnt that bad. And its harder to go from a browser you are familiar with to another but i think IE is only a harbor for problems.

From my own research, I believe that my "problem" can be "fixed" with the registry editor, but I don't know what to add or delete or what values to edit. I believe the answer lies in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TabbedBrowsing . Once again, any help would be appreciated smile.gif

I have been waiting for this to be an option since IE first had tabbed browsing. This always seemed like the most logical action for clicking the big X. Why "always close all tabs"? Why not "always do this"?? If it did and you wanted to close all of the tabs, all you would need to do is click the red X a few times. Someone please help us out here. Like maybe Microsoft, when you come out with a new version? Or, anyone really. Thanks
