6950 fan problem

Whenever i switch on my system my GPU always runs at high speeds ( 5.8rpm )
Its very loud and MSI afterburner / CCC overdrive can help. can any of you guys help me?

Throw away the CCC if you don't use special features (as in just using 1 screen, no eyefinity or w/e), ONLY install the Display drivers.
Then set a Cruve in MSI afterburner with Prefrences->Fan to your own liking temp / speed wise, then close the menu after applying.
Go to the Fanspeed bar in the main screen, set it at User Defined and click on Auto.

always works like a charm, had no exception yet

What is the relationship between the fan speed and the GPU temperature? If you feel that the fan is too loud/fast, and you're getting 20*C on the GPU then it's going to be okay if you turn the fan speed down a bit to your liking. If however, the card is trying to compensate for higher temperatures by running the fan at a higher RPM, you might want to consider the integrity of the card itself.
