Upgrading to 6850

Thread Starter
Hello all,

My 6850 should be arriving soon. Up until now I've been running a 4770, which I've since put into a friend's computer. I had the latest Catalyst drivers installed, but it completely slipped my mind to have uninstalled/cleaned them out before I passed the card along.

Will it cause problems if I install the 6850 without first removing the drivers? I could possibly reacquire the old card for a little bit if necessary

Thanks
My System

Probably not but.... download driver sweeper. http://downloads.guru3d.com/Guru3D--...load-1655.html

Run this after you un install your old drivers. Then install new card and reinstall new drivers, 10.12 preferably.

It probably won't be an issue, but it would be a good idea to go ahead and remove the old drivers before installing the new card as to stay away from any potential problems. Like Chuckclc said above: download driver sweeper. Remove the ATI install manager via add/remove programs (express uninstall all ATI software). After that, reboot into safe mode and run driver sweeper. Reboot into normal Windows and install the new drivers after you have the card installed on the motherboard.
