Do you need the stand offs for the mother board or structural pieces?

If you have a hobby shop near, you can get aluminum tubing in round, square or teardrop. You would just cut it to size and put JB weld or some kind of 2 part epoxy inside each end. When it dries you can drill and tap it out and you will have custom structural stand offs. You could also grease up a screw/fastener and insert it in the ends before the epoxy hardens. If you need custom length stand offs for motherboard mounting just find some tubing small enough that you can tap out or screw the fastener into. Just some ideas.

Thanks! however no i have an idea where standoffs aren't needed at all, custom or otherwise. basically i'll make guide rails for every component and so one can just slide things in instead of deal with all those screws. Only issue that i think may be a non-issue would be the motherboard but i'll have to see... Any case-mod gurus out there find anything weird with this idea, tell me! i don't want to make any huge mistakes!

Components will have to lock in place somehow. How will you do that?

locking mechanism that uses a combination of screws and a piece of metal to close the opening where the components are first slid in would be appropriate i think. of course this will all be vibration dampened...
