Which gaming notebook/laptop should I get? Budget: $1000

Hi. First post here as a first-day member of the forums, I hope to receive some help. Thanks in advance!

Which notebook/laptop should I get?

My budget is about $1000. I don't want to spend too much above it.

So far, I've looked at ASUS, Sager, HP, and Alienware.

And I've picked out a few that seem to be good deals.

Option 1: $1000 (After $300-off Coupon)

The specs on this one are really nice. The only thing that is lacking is the graphics card and maybe, I only feel that way because Sandy Bridge came out. Does anyone know if the CPU will bottleneck the performance?

I really like this one because the Envy series are known for great build quality. I think compared to other gaming notebooks such as the Sager or Alienware, the Envy is a lot thinner and appealing. Can anyone comment on this?

Option 2: $900 after Windows 7 + 1080p upgrade

The specs on this one are nice, too. Its video card is lacking but it has a Sandy Bridge processor. But as a gamer, I don't know if those priorities are right for me.

Does anyone know which other notebooks/laptops I should consider? I'd prefer if it wasn't too bulky or hard to carry around.

My priorities:
1) Plays in decent settings at high resolution some of the latest games (such as Starcraft 2, which isn't even graphically intensive)
2) Portability (I'd like to stuff it in a bookbag or messenger bag and carry it around, easily)
3) Build Quality (Looks nice, good material, etc)
4) Warranty

I'd HIGHLY recommend going with the one appleg33k85 said. That is a great laptop if you're wanting to play starcraft2 and based on ur ID name...first of all...GREAT CHOICE! Long live the king of macro....and two...I have a mac book pro with a 2.4Ghz and a 330M and I play it across the board on medium with NO lag.and that machine is even better and running dx rather than OpenGL so it'd jsut be better . Highly recommended. and +1 appleg33k85 that's a great find for him.

$950 for i5 460m + GT 335m?

How good is the GT 335m to warrant such a high price? Is it better than the 540m and 5850m?

Edit 2: Some sources seem to say the GT 335m is better than the 540m and 5850m while other sources say otherwise. Could anyone confirm for me?

I like my MSI GX640. It's a little over $1000. But your first two choices are kind of conflicting. One is a 17" and one a 15.6." You should decide the size you want first.

However, the GX640 has a Radeon 5850, 15.4" (1680x1050), 4 GB DDR3 and Core i5-450M. I don't do a ton of gaming, but it runs Civ 5 nicely.

I don't mind between a 15.6" and a 17". I would prefer under 17" but the HP Envy's build quality allows for good portability even though with a huge screen.
