Steam and Crossfire not a good pair?

Thread Starter
Sorry for my posts of asking questions, but I might be getting a second 5830 card to crossfire on my Computer and want to make sure it is a good idea.

I have been reading abit about crossfire and 5830 cards and read some things where people have had trouble with crossfire and games from Steam. They say games like MW2, L4D, L4D2, StarCraft 2, Black-Ops, Batman Arkham Asulym, Mass Effect 1&2.

Some of the comlaints were as recent as Jan 18/11. Anyone ever had this problem?

[Edit: Games from that list I play and would worry about are the L4D 1&2 and possible MW2. Bad Company 2 is the other one I am on.]

Steam is a game distribution program, doesn't really effect the way that they play. People like to use anything they can use to complain about something smile.gif

Yes, but Steam recently added a feature that will automatically keep ATI graphic drivers up to date. I think that might have something to do with the crossfire issues.

That's why I never chose to update over Steam, they don't know what they're doing...little rascals.

Used 4890 cd in my old rig. Had no problems. People who don't know blame it on very odd things. Some people have cf problems fullstop.

What games and what setting are you running on Steam? I am thinking about upgrading to 5770...... if I had money I'd go for 6850.

I remember that. I took it off my computer like an hour later. For some reason it messed my setting up.

I will probably take the plung and get the card. It is used (6 Months old) but wanted to be sure that getting it wouldn't be a waste of time and money if it didn't even work with the games I play.
