My schools firewall... ? and my rights?

Ok, so my school has strict policys on Facebook.. and social networking...

in october they put a firewall that is called fortiguard.. and now if i want to sign in on my computer.. i have to put my user name and password and a proxy..

so, i broke the firewall on my computer and i went on Facebook.. nicely.. with out hassle.. and now they are making me show how i did it... ( i dont want to) or else i might get suspended or expelled..

what are my rights as a student that i bypassed the firewall?

i mean.. its not my fault that the I.T technicians dont know how to set up a good firewall..?

Thanks,
fred

User name and password through a proxy is for accountability purposes. They want to know who was accessing what and when.

As far as your rights as a student, using the school's internet, you have none. At least in the US. You agree to their terms by using their connection.

Same deal with torrenting. You torrent at a UC, get caught doing it either by the movie/music association, you will be blocked and reprimanded. You dont have free reign.

If you want to do whatever you please on the internet, get a cellular card/usb dongle.

It's the same at my school here in Canada, when you log on to their connection your agreeing to all the terms and rules they have set, you break em' it's all on you. Since you chose to do so you have zero rights as far as I know.

You are a minor (I'm assuming). You have ass for rights. You chose to break the rules, got caught, and now there are consequences. Kinda like real-life.

Rights exist only in the gulf between upheld responsibilities. No "rights" are unalienable, despite poetry to the contrary.

Yes, by "hacking" the firewall, you essentially did the same thing as hacking into their network, illegal, and they could technically pursue for damages and jail time (if they were so inclined). I would simply suggest showing them, and being accountable for your actions

At the school district I work at they allow facebook.... But the way it works for us is you sign a internet user agreement, and if you break that agreement then your internet privileges are revoked. The only times that you would get suspended or written up are if your hacking teachers computers, changing grades, doing malicious things exc.

You have zero rights as internet in schools is a privilege, not a right.
