3TB+ unlock for Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD7

Thread Starter
There is a new utility called 3TB+ unlock that was put on Gigabyte's website today for my motherboard. I have a 3TB drive that I have been trying to get working. I wonder if anyone has any idea what this utility is exactly or if it would solve my problem. I did mange to get the 3TB drive working using GPT but the computer would hang for 45 secs on start up. Right now I am using it as a 2TB drive without the hang. I could just try the utility but I have spent so much time on this I am not sure unless others have had success.

Thanks, Kent

You could just partition the drive into 2TB and 1TB sections and see if it works.

Thanks linkin93. That is what I have now and only the 2TB partition works. I want to try this utility to see what it does but was hoping someone else has so I don't waste more time.

Also, consider all of the time that's wasted fuffing about doing irrelevant crap before complaining how valuable your time is.

Well I had to make a GPT partition and had to find what was causing the hang with windows and I have spent hours. Now I already have data on this drive so to test the utility might take a long time transferring data back and forth and sometimes utilities cause problems with windows. Sorry.

I guess the Gigabyte mobo's don't have UEFI? I know the asus p67 boards do and they natively support 3tb drives.

certain BIOS had support for 3TB+ HDDs off the bat through a UEFI Bootloader, i think they might hav removed that from their latest F7 bioses, try one of the older BIOSes.
