Upon Card Removal, Can Only Hear Out One Ear - Page 2

Could be a problem with the board, maybe the onboard audio is partially shot and there's interference or something in the PCIe slot which would cause the humming ?
Seems like a long shot but who knows.

Edit: Did you try the front audio port ?

Just tested out the onboard with another pair of inputs, my JVC Marshmallows, to rule out anything I plug in as the culprit. Even with my brand new earphones I can only hear from the right earbud.

I twisted the jack as suggested and nothing changed.

The question is, why would uninstalling a Xonar DG driver blow out half of my onboard sound? Could ASUS basically be smacking me for removing their software and are forcing me to depend on it just so I can listen with both ears? Oh the humanity.

With the Xonar DG installed, I noticed that ONLY during certain games would I hear certain buzz/whine patterns coming from the sound card. Such as the loading screen for Dead Space, where I would hear "VVVVWWWWWWWWWWW" and for Combat Arms I would hear "EEEEEEEEEE".

:EDIT:

Front audio port has never worked even before installing the sound card, I'm sure I misplugged something somewhere.

You probably didn't plug the cable, usually you have to plug it on the bottom left corner of the board, on my Xonar DX there's also a connector to plug the front port directly into the sound card, don't remember if there was a cable included though, maybe the DG also has that connector

The front panel is labeled as F Audio right? It's been plugged in. There's an empty socket next to it that says CD IN.

I just found the drivers for the onboard sound and did a complete reinstall, yet the problem remains in existence.

Where do I go from here? : (

When installing the Xonar, did you disable the onboard audio in bios? Try doing that and see if your Xonar works.

Well the problem at hand wasn't getting the Xonar to work, it was getting the onboard audio to fully work after I uninstalled the card and driver.

Anyway I've reinstalled the card and driver to gain back sound in both sides of the headphones, damn it all. Which comes down to the core of the problem...the stupid hissing noise and interference that constantly occurs and intensifies during and after playing videogames.

Something tells me it's probably the PSU having unstable rails or something like that. I know I have more than sufficient wattage for everything (520w I think). How can I find out for sure? I need some real advice on this.

Lot's of things could be interfering with the noise which means you have bad shielding. Do you have a Sprint/Nextel phone? Those are notorious for interfering with audio. On an older PC I used to have, every time the HDD would read I could hear it in my earphone.

I ruled out any phones.

But I can definitely hear the PC statically buzzing away in my right ear cup. As for shielding there is none that comes with the Xonar DG. How do I shield a sound card anyway?

It could be noise from the PSU, It could also be something you have plugged in in your house that's causing the noise on the power line. The card will be more sensitive and make it more noticeable than the on board will Try unplugging other things on the circuit with your PC and see if it helps, or another PSU.

You could always grab a surge protector that filters out noise in the power too
