oh to my delta's that is quiet lol. plus that is why the fc-8 is in there

Oh, static pressure.... It's like torque vs horsepower. Some fans of the same speed can push air through a rad better. There are a whole lot of posts by Martin from skineelabs (?) who tests fans and compares them, just do a forum search for "martin fans"

Hi all,
Been reading all the post in the last week or so and I have seen that some is having trouble with getting over 920 core without flashing the bios even with the 1GB Hawk. Now mine is not the Hawk and only the 768mb flavor, I have been at 925 on the core at 1.087mV for weeks and vary stable.
Now would this mean that I have a better than average card and if I did a bios mod and up the volts I could hit 1G on the core? Also will there be any noticeable performance boost if I push it higher?

What programs are you running? Id suggest trying Folding on it and see what happens. Yours may be stable for some games you play, but heavy taxing programs like F@H, your card would not be able to stay at that clock with that volt.

This is with all OC's, at 3.8Ghz, my cpu can do almost anything at 1.4v, but in order to fold, I have to run as high as 1.475 to keep from failing WU's or crashing my system. Different programs stress components in different ways, its finding your needs, and matching your hardware to those needs. Some peoples needs are just higher than others and demand more powa!

well that is a hard question to answer! As you know all chips are different not one is the same as another, and as far as your first question NO that does not mean that you can go higher if you unlock the volts ( it is very possible) but no guarantee.

The second question is the hard one, you can see performance gains from going higher but it takes everything going faster (to put it in English) as when you make the card go faster and produce more data outward it hits the ram and cpu wall hence a bottle neck. I had that very problem and am still working on the last bit of tweaking to gain those FPS that others have at lower clock speeds

Well I do a lot of a AutoCADD converting 2D drawings to 3D renderings with walk through views and audio, video and restoring old photos also some gaming drit2, gta4 when time allows been looking it the F@H but getting ready to move to Kentucky next month, New York is getting way to expensive live and winters up here is hell with steel holding the back together.
Looking to build a new rig and use this one for a 24/7 folder before summer is over.

well I no longer take opiates but still on very heavy doses of pain meds will be for ever, as the past 6 spinal and neurologist doctors have said! I had 1,856lbs fall on me, so I was not happy that day lol! But at least I am up and walking again!!! I was a paraplegic for about 4 months. I don't abuse the meds in fact I have lots extra every month, friends always trying to dip in you know the drill!

I bought a brand new pny gtx 580 1.5gb today, and had nothing but problems with it, for starters, it wouldnt let me run one of my 460 768mb cards for phys X then my system only reconised it as a 480, and it under preformed my 460 768mb sli setup, final conclusion, 460 rocks
