Nice to meet you too, and thanks again both of you.
My system is the one listed at the bottom of my posts. It's a stock Compaq SR2180NX
with the 768mb GTX 460, a 4gb flash drive for ReadyBoost, and a 550w Corsair (oranged banded - ATX? - SLI support) PSU. Different hard drive. No system fan. The side panel is off and I have a floor fan aimed at it point blank with a clothes hamper on the back of it for a filter.
Keeps things amazingly cool though for now (my HDD went to 77 degrees C without it - now stays at 32-33). Planning on getting real cooling solutions soon - Noctua system fan and an Evercool expansion bay HDD fan.
Anyway, it's weird, because my frame-rate goes to hell playing something like Spider-Man 3 or Wolverine Origins at 800x600 with everything on low, but works relatively well playing Dragon Age 2 on max with hi-res textures and no AA at 1024x768 - just hiccups when a fire effect loads up.
As for the low res, because I want to make sure everything works, I'm rockin' it old school for now with my 1998 Gateway monitor! I'm planning on upgrading the RAM to 4gb @ 667mhz - cuz I think that's wrong with everything. But just a 40 dollar guess. Then I'll hook it up to my tv, and hopefully play whatever my dual core can work with at the highest res it will go (but capping at 1080p). I plan on playing a lot of RPGs, and Unreal 3 engine games really.
On the other hand, I could upgrade the processor to a Pentium D 950 for the same price. But I'm really waiting 'til I get enough money for a nice motherboard and a Phenom x2 550.
