Wierd. can't think of anything that could have been changed from Standard to SP1 that would cause failure... IDk, maybe the USB active power?

Also, Why the heck did they release a motherboard with only Beta BIOs? Thats horrible! beta testing is ment to be done on hardware B4 the release! or is it that the Support for his FX series processor isn't all that great on the sabretooth... This is very unlike Asus, as they have always made sure there Motherboards are stable before releasing them. Aww what am I saying, as I sit with my M4A87TD-EVO currently on it's way to Indiana for RMA!

ah, that makes more sense.

But, that may have been the only BIOS that would Support his FX-series Processor. It is a very new Processor. I know alot of people did this so that the AM2+ boards would support the PhenomII X6 Processors when they came out.

Sorry seen that you been missing my posting lol, I was having big troubles with this F'in Bios that Asus says is made for the FX cpu's but tell you when they say Beta they mean (B)astard (E)nginers (T)rouble (A)ssociation and they will find all new ways to mess up your fine day if they have the chance! I have delt with about every problem even the stupid usb ones now which were never a problem before, I did a total of 8 thats Eight fresh installs and each one failed after tons of windows updates! The last two I did I did one at a time that took even longer, cause after each I shut down, not restarted, shut down and then rebooted to see if that was anything that was causing the BSOD's I was getting. I got three picked out that caused it one was SP1 so installed everything but that and two driver updates on keyboard and mouse but I did go to the manufacturer and get the newest one which was newer than the windows one so that was fixed by just bypassing windows update! I still have a few things that are just not right but they are not BSOD's so I really don't care at this point, I just wanted to have my mainrig back up, my kid wouldn't even let me look stuff up lol on my secondary!!! I think she was worried I would kill it lol.

BTW it games great even though I only have it at 5ghz!!! lol only 5ghz, stable as far as the cpu and ram goes. the cards scale very nice I don't see any slow downs like I did with the X4 or even the X6, I think that once they get there heads out of a stinky place and get to work on fixing the JUNE RELEASED BOARD a bios that is able to WORK with the AM3+ chip that is what it was MADE FOR!!! Do you know that ASUS had the nerve to say that the Bulldozer chip is not a approved CPU for the 990FX boards!!! And if it worked well great but if it doesn't its not there fault as it is not approved!! WHAT the hell is AM3+ for then??????

TBH, I was actually reading this. Only 3 companies actually approved the Bulldozer CPU's for their inital release of the 990FX boards. Those Companies were: MSI, Gigabyte, and Asrock. Neither AMD or Asus approved the use of Bulldozer CPU's on their initial revisions of the AM3+ boards. They claimed the same thing your having trouble with. The BIOS not cooperating with the new Architechure of the Bulldozer CPU's.
I kindda saw this coming actually, Remember reading PC magazine back in `08when they released the 8-Core Opterons? Same issue. Thats why people switched back over to the Intel Xenons. This is why I always keep tabs on how they perform on the Server releases, cause when they make the Switch to Desktop uses, the same issues occur.
Glad to hear you have sorted out some of the problems with it though. With the information you give them, they should be able to come up with a valid working BIOS for you. The only reason your having trouble is cause the Bulldozer is a completely new Architecture, and they basically threw out the 990FX chipset hoping most people would wait and slowly upgrade from the X4's and X6's later, when they had the issues resolved.

That's just dumb!! You really think they thought people were going to wait? I mean AMD and even ASUS was bragging on how good Bulldozer was going to be and that there new 990FX AM3+ boards were 100% compatible where as the 890 wasn't! I would love you to get the artitcal for me so I can have that one next to the other release (Official ASUS release) that confirms that they were in fact 100% ready and waiting for the AMD chip to be release. I would love that please find it and send me a link or even copy and paste it what ever needs be to get it, I am on the war path with there engineers right about now

PS dont think I am yelling at you I am just hot over this, I have not had so many problems since the core2duo days

OK, I won't post the lachen, but i'm sure glad it's not me. Good to hear you are a bit closer to having it sorted, and running stable at 5GHz is nothing to sneeze at...Go for it buddy!

I have been cursing at it yelling at it, well even thought of peeing on it lol, but that would end up getting me nowhere so just stuck to yelling at it that seemed to help a little lol

I have a Asus G53SW-A1 gameing laptop with a GTX 460M 1.5 GB that i can overclock with MSI Afterburner to get the same clocks and performance as the desktop versions but I think its only a 128 bit version if I'm not mistaken. So does it qualify me for the club?

Don't feel too bad, My motherboard was delivered to Asus Tech Support in Indiana yesterday afternoon(Nov4th) at 2:30pm, think they even sent me a confirmation Email stating it had arrived? Heck No!

I been crossing my fingers hoping that I did everything right, though when I got to the Post office I realised that I had absolutely NOTHING to pack the box with. I kept the Motherboard in the Factory Static free Bag, and started stuffing the box with plastic shopping bags, a clean rag that was in my trunk, and finally someone came out that had a roll of packing paper that was just enough to finish the job.

I'm waiting for a email that states something like "upon arrival we noticed the package was improperly packaged, so we returned it without review," or "the RMA number was not in HUGE letters on the front of the package but in the Address and on a piece of paper in the package, so we sent it back," or "the serial label was not present on the motherboard upon arrival, so we sent it back." bradford, you would know how funny that last one is, since you have seen first hand that they do not put the Serial number on the board, but on the outside of the original box.
