could be worse man, mine is stock 1.0 and needs full 1.07 to do 850 and gets pretty warm... like 85, doing it.

I wanted to get the MSI Hawk, but at the time I needed the card it was 220 and the EVGA was on sale plus a decent rebate at newegg for around 170 iirc.

Mine's a PNY and I got ripped off at "Worst Buy". I won't tell you how much I paid at that brick and mortar store.

Ah, so you got a G73 series... Core i5 or Core i7? Drooled over one of these when I was getting ready to go back to school.

From the GPU-Z readings, I'm guessing the 460M is more similar to specs of the GTX260, or GTX280, (IDK the spec of the 280, but his specs are pretty close to mine). Dropped a GPU-Z of my card that I OCed up to reference specs, stupid Alienware down clocking stuff.
As technologies get older, they get smaller...

Hey, I'll give you props though, you came in around the same as my reference clocks scores in ungine, and murdered my 3Dmark score, and I had a 3.2GHz hex core OC'ed to 3.85GHz, great job! Oh, and GET A GOOD LAPTOP COOLER!!!! I can't stress it enough. My brothers N80Vb is running with a bum core (Core2Duo Centrino) between that and the 9300M, it overheated. Suggestion? Here! something similar to this that isn't made to be carried around.

Sadly, I know how much. just a couple months ago I installed a XLR8 PNY GTX460 For someone that "Cannot live with 2nd rate stuff", though he lives off his parents dime at 25 years old. Spoiledhis parents bought it at Worst Buy

I got my first ones at best buy, PNY brand they are not built to ref spec which I found out after I got the 230usd worth of watercooling full cover blocks!! I ended up buying EVGA and kept the PNY's as spares! I never had a problem with them as I used the price match trick at best buy, Circuit City is a on line store yes!!! BUT they still have store fronts which by Best Buy's policy they had to price match them lol!!! I saw the cards for 139.99 at circuit city and they looked it up as well and had to sell two of them to me for that price (mind you this was right after the 460's release and best buy had them on the shelf for 289.99 I think! Tell me they were not pissed when I brought my buddy in a hour later and had him do the same lol. I was pissed at PNY about the ref thing but still glad I got over on worst buy lol

BTW scipher99, Your avatar is about the best movie ever lol, I loved Fight Club

So are you saying I should be happy with the 850 Mhz I got out of mine? I just assumed it was reference since the HSF was.

I couldn't get past 880/2000 on mine. I then decided to go to water and found out that they had changed from the reference design, I can go back to my posts in here (WWWaaayyyy back lol) and show you posts where they had changed the Chokes and caps lay out where the full cover blocks at the time would not work! I see that XSPC makes one now that will work on them, it just doesn't cool the vrm's and of coarse you can use the universal blocks like swiftechs mcp82 which works very well for cooling the GPU/CPU just not the memory or VRM's but with heatsinks and fans you can get better temps and maybe better clocks than me (if your card can do it)

If you think about it 675/3200 is the reference design of the GF104 gtx 460 so yes 850/and around 2100? is about great for the card on air, some get higher but most don't! Plus you just can't look at clocks on the 460 as they have different models now I think like 5, look at the driver drop down on nvidia's site, lol I swear I think there is 5 different 460's in there

I picked up an Arctic Cooling Accelero II - going to pop it on this week. It was $36. I know its a bit of money to spend on a year old video card, but I'm curious to see how much more I can coax out of it on air. Just want to make it work on Ultra for Skyrim while I wait for Kepler (or if the AMD new release).

dude, number 1 don't let people make you think you have a outdated card! I know plenty of systems that are still using 8800gt's and 9800gtx's! I myself have been standing up for others like myself that still are running a GTX260, granted I have (3) of them in SLI but even just 2 with physx card third is a great gaming rig! I have a link in my sig to Sli'N'Lan my lga775 rig! Which is still in the most psrt a top of the line gaming rig, The only thing it lacks is DX11 which now is still only used on very few games and is not 100% needed to play any of them even BF3 is able to be played on my older rig.

I think you getting the 460 cool is a great idea. That card is a year old yes, but still the 460 will be a card that can play any game for years to come! Maxing out settings has only been able to be done in the past few years (by the avg person) in fact crysis 1 was still a game that was hard to max out in till the 460 came out, and even then had slow downs in single card! Games will not get much better than they are now for a few more years. The money that is takes to make a game like crysis or BF3 or any big graphic game is just not there for multi a year releases, think about it BF3 took 2 years to make

EDIT: BTW I have heard very good results from the Arctic Cooling Accelero II, but never seen any in here so do as many tests before you put it on as you can and use a TIM like NT-H1 not AS5!

I used all TOP TIMS and compared them between the cards when on air and came up with NT-H1 being the best TIM
