Hey guys i got a Galaxy GTX 460, well the stock fan on it broke and right now im using a jimmy rigged setup the temps get too hot for my likin, the funny part about this is the Galaxy fan is suppose to be replaceable but i cant find it on Galaxy's website are there still any coolers out there that can support this old card? can another manufacturers cooler support the card as well?

This is the card

You could get an aftermarket cooler like the Arctic Cooling Accelero Twin Turbo II, which is compatible with the reference 460 PCB. As for whether your card uses the reference PCB you might have to do a bit of research, but it should fit.

Alternatively, give Galaxy an email or something and ask them how you might be able to buy a spare cooler.

Wow, do you think that Accelero TT II will help cool my top card that sucks air from the one directly next to it? It reaches 90C while playing CIV5 and Skrim. The stock fan's on both cards run at 80% mostly all the time while gaming, and it's pretty loud.Photo with OCN Username

Possibly, but these sorts of top-down coolers aren't very good when you've got multiple cards sitting on top of each other, because the top card simply sucks in hot air being exhausted by the bottom one.

I had the same issue with my ASUS and Palit 460s. The ASUS on its own runs really cool, but stick another card below it and things go haywire. What you really want for multi-card situations are external exhaust/blower coolers, but I don't think you can get aftermarket versions of those.

Hmmm, it's gotta be better than the single fan sucking the heat off the back of the other, wouldn't you agree? Would it even fit on the top card in my rig?

I'm sure it will be better, but I wouldn't expect too much. Anyway, that's a good point you raise. I think it takes up around three slots, so it wouldn't fit anyway redface.gif

How old are those 460's? Clean out the vents/heatsink, as they look a bit dusty. Also re-applying good TIM should help those temps. I have two 460's stacked just like yours. I used a 120mm fan attached to the side of the cards to help cool the cards. You'd can use zip ties to mount the fan.

Also, Check the thread below. Interesting stuff.
