ATI, your drivers are evidently still crap - Page 14

1. Nvidia just recently released the 196.75 WHQL drivers that literally KILLED a lot of their cards.

(not so recently now, I wrote this for my own community back in SC2 beta time)

Quote:
We are aware that some customers have reported fan speed issues with the latest 196.75 WHQL drivers on NVIDIA.com. Until we can verify and root cause this issue, we recommend that customers stay with, or return to 196.21 WHQL drivers. Release 196.75 drivers have been temporarily removed from our Web site in the meantime.
And I thought ATI had bad drivers? Since when did ATI release a driver that literally killed your card?

2. ATI has caused 9% of Vista crashes, pretty harsh right? Well, that's nothing compare to what Nvidia has done

3. Face it - ATi doesn't have the bad drivers like everyone assumes they have. I've used ATI 3850, the 4850, 4870, (2x) 4870's crossfire, and a ATI 5870 and have never ever, ever had a single GPU problem related tot he driver, or to ATI as a whole.

So if you're a Nvidia Fanboi, might want to hop off the bandwagon.

EDIT: Not saying that ATI hasn't released terribad drivers before -- But I believe they have both released drivers just as bad as each other, except for killing of cards.........................

What was their market share at the time? Intel is the only one that comes off looking good in that chart.

So your card doesn't stay downclocked with hardware accelerated video in the background? I find it very hard to beleive that you have never run into a driver problem.

Do I have to mention the list of games that artifact again?

I know I don't have problems.

It's obvious you know nothing about statistics. The nvidia poll sample size is more than enough to get a good gauge of what people think about their drivers. You don't have to get an "equal" number of votes on both sides to make it "fair", you just need enough to establish a decent sample size, and the Nvidia poll generally has that

If 10 000 people voted for Nvidia and 20 000 people voted for ATI, it wouldn't make any significant difference on the average score of the drivers.

Now if you were talking about a sampling bias or a sampling error, then you'd be right.

Can't wait for 11.1s to release so my awesome crossfire setup becomes even awesomer while people like you try to make little AMD/ATI boycott threads.
You're a loser if you think I give a rats ass about AMD vs Nvidia. I couldn't care less, the more competition, the better it is for us, the less money we pay, and the better quality products we get. Grow up.

Peeps, please don't feed the OP troll. it's only helping him/her/it succeed in whatever goal it had.

Drivers for ATI/AMD aren't the best... yet AMD has several sources of income and currently has more important things on their minds than creating that perfect driver set. I.E. Bulldozer.

Wow so you run the one machine that won't stay downclocked with hardware accelerated video in the background. Must be nice. Dude there are universal open issues that everyone will see.

There are quite a few people who thought that they damaged their 6950 when they flashed it to 6970 at TPU just due to odd driver issues that aren't even limited to Cayman. I saw similar posts at XS.

Anyone who thinks I actually give a @#$ about either company has to be a child. They're both companies, and they both make products, if one company isn't competitive (through pricing, technology or driver issues), that's bad for me. If AMD runs out of business, that's bad for me and for all of us. LMAO, I still can't believe people care about companies like their father owns it or something. Relax folks
