Sorry I didn't see this post earlier;
Theres two glaring options given your monitor, IMO:
The Ergotron MX series Desk Mount:
http://www.ergotron.com/Products/tabid/65/PRDID/56/Default.aspx
This is an actual arm that articulates and extends from your desk with a VERY small footprint. This would probably be my personal choice.
I also see that you go to LAN parties, and probably need your monitor to be portable; This being the case a desk mount clamp design would probably not suit you well so the option here is to go with a replacement stand like the one here:
http://www.ergotron.com/Products/tabid/65/PRDID/242/language/en-US/Default.aspx
Note that these are more expensive options for the situation at hand, there are much cheaper alternatives (except in the arm department... they don't make too many arms that support 27" lcds lol)

If you go to LAN parties, definitely the 2nd link. I don't think people sell certain monitor stand separately.

What size monitor were you planning on getting? Also you can get wall mounts as well which is always an option..
EDIT: Although a wall mount will be less practical for going to LAN parties.

I just got this mounting arm (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=109&cp_id=10828&cs_id=1082808&p_id=5402&seq=1&format=4#). It's amazing quality for $22. One of the best computer bargains out there imo.
