Upgrading gfx+screen

hey all!

I have decided that it is time to upgrade my sig rig a bit, the screen is just killing me in small size(plus i want to have 2). I was thinking of about 23" - 24". I figured if i go with a new screen than the 9800gtx+ isn't going to cut it anymore frown.gif
I do game a bit, but it is not a priority. i am a student in mechanical engineering and therefor i have to use CAD programs quite often. now when i do that on my current 1440x900 screen it is pretty much a pain in the ass.

I live in the Netherlands, so the prices here(in euros) are about as much as in the us(in dollars). i know it sucks tongue.gif. I was planning on spending about 500 euro total.

I thought the gtx570 would be just the right card for me, but it would leave me with a relatively small amount of money for the screen. i really want the screen to be good, since its something you notice if its off(a 1 FPS difference doesn't imo).
I have heard some good stories about the IPS panel screens from Dell. It is 8ms though, so will that give any negative performance? or is it basically not noticable? the 23" one is about 230-240 euro over here. which would leave me with a nice 250-260 for the gfx.

- Are there any other screens in the price range of about 160-170 euro(23", at least 1920x1080 preferably 1920x1200) so i could get the gtx570?
- you think it is worth it to go with a bit lower grade gfx to grab the IPS? and if so, what would be a good option? the gtx560 just got released which is about in that price range, and the gtx470 is about around that too.

I have a personal preference for Nvidia cards and i guess it is going to be pretty hard to convince me otherwise, next to that i am planning on folding a bit from time to time.

Thanx all in advance!!

260 for the card would = a GTX 560, and you could easily grab a nice screen for 240 - though you should look for a 1080 monitor, as 1200 are getting very rare to find, and are costing ~ $300 (unless you can find a nice used Asus VW266H (25.5" 1920 x 1200), though I had a hard time finding 2 more for a triple monitor setup

Thank you for your reply smile.gif

I guess(after reading up some stuff about the gftx560) im going with it smile.gif

now i still have some questions about the monitor, when i look up at price comparing sites here lets say in the 200-250 euro segment i find like tons of monitors, there are like B,P,M,N,H,F series of Samsung alone redface.gif there are a few 1920x1200 monitors for around that price though(or a bit less). the samsung 2443NW/BW/FW.
now im wondering if either of them would be good? or there are any differences? the 25.5" you mentioned is both a bit too big, and a bit too expensive for me.
I still am wondering about the dell U2311h. since it is pretty much in that price range aswell. can anyone give me some insight about the 8ms? and other disadvantages this screen might have i do not know of?

thanx all in advance again!
